Hi everyone and Happy New Year After a fairly hectic Christmas I have buckled down to finish my Post Office book. I took three months off after slaving away for nine unpaid months from January last year. By September I was starting to go a bit mad. And poor. Thankfully stepping back from Post Office work allowed me to cover the Glinner trial, Sara Morrison's employment tribunal, the launch of the Cambridge Society of Women and what I could of Mandy Clare's case. My nose is currently back scraping hard against the Post Office grindstone and I'm looking at exciting internal documents from January 2022, a month before the first (formal) hearings of the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry. Once I have handed in the first draft of the book (deadline at the end of this month) I intend to do as much as I am able on the gender wars so you will likely see gender newsletter and blog activity crank up again. And then I can start writing a gender book. Good. And...? Ah, yes. I am mainly writing so that you are the first to know I have decided to make freely available the ten newsletters I sent out during the course of Sara Morrison's employment tribunal in Northern Ireland. I will normally only post newsletters on the GenderBlog website once they are several months old (well - Andrew, Master of the Dark Arts will do the actual posting as I don't know how to), but I have made an exception in this instance because any potential interest in their contents will diminish to almost zero once the tribunal has issued its ruling. The managing judge at Sara's tribunal said she would not hand down her ruling until after Christmas, though she did not give any further hint as to how long after Christmas this might be. I felt - before it is reduced to dry findings - there might be some value in reminding ourselves and/or alerting a wider audience to the broader scope of what happened at the tribunal in all its technicolour detail. I have always been committed to posting all the GenderBlog newsletters up as a free archive after an appropriate gap. I'm just bringing the Morrison v BFF ones forward so anyone who wants to can have a thorough opportunity to review Sara's case before the judgment comes down. Feel free to tweet out links to any of the archived Morrison v BFF newsletters if you feel moved to highlight any of the details therein. I'm going to start doing the same next week. I hope 2026 brings you everything you are hoping for, and there are plenty more reportable stories to tell you about over the course of the year.
