All the Red Flags

A Minus 18 event: Night at the Museum – for 12 to 19 year olds. Source: Minus 18 website

I am grateful to an Aussie correspondent for drawing my attention to the work of Minus 18, a state-sponsored LGBTQIA+ concern, which exists to create an “Australia where all young people are safe, empowered, and surrounded by people that support them”. Minus 18 was founded by a man called Colin Roland Billings who, at the time of his death in 2009, had been charged with sexual offences against three teenage boys. But that was all such a long time ago. Let’s look at Minus 18 now.

According to Minus 18, one in five secondary school kids now identify as LGBTQIA+ “and this number is growing around the world” [?] Eventually someone will have the brainwave of putting S for Straight into the alphabet soup, quintupling the market for Minus 18’s work overnight. It already does quite well, employing 21 staff and earning $2m a year, thanks to the support of the Victoria State Government, Lululemon, Converse sneakers and Bonds, a family-oriented clothes retailer which has Men’s and Women’s sections, whilst offering seventeen “genderfree” items to the cool kids.

Inevitably, Minus 18’s trainers and speakers go into schools and workplaces to teach people about pronouns and allyship. Their costed online packages start at $299 a pop, though some are free to download.

Minus 18’s message is that it’s okay to feel as if you’re born in the wrong body, it’s okay to experiment with your identity, it’s perfectly fine to force your stupid pronouns on people even if you reserve the right to change them, and your name, without warning at any moment. Learning how to question your identity, understand being non-binary and the joy of gender euphoria is very much to the fore. Although I haven’t gone through all their online articles, I did quite a bit of clicking around and saw a single mention of the word gay and none of lesbian, apart from in the merch section, where the sole lesbian product available was a key ring.

The Minus 18 website also manages to suggest without qualification that 1.7% of people are born intersex – “about the same as people with ginger hair!” The task in hand is not to question this statistic, but to “become an ally to the intersex community” – whatever that might entail. Perhaps the G in the LGBTQIA+ stands for Ginger. Lululemon could take the underused L.

Events for 12 – 19 year olds!

All this would just be ludicrious/sinister transwashing/grifting (depending on your outlook) were it not for the big red flag hanging over the myriad pink and blue ones. Y’see, even today, Minus 18 run events for children and adults aged 12 – 19. Even loser straights are welcome. To spare the blushes of trans and non-binary kids who might have changed their names, event staff only ID people “who we feel look outside of the 12-19 age bracket”.

Minus 18 are all for kids going to their events on their own, telling potential attendees “a huge portion… will be coming along for the first time. Which means there are HEAPS of people ready to make friends. Our crew and volunteers try really hard to make sure everyone’s feeling comfortable. They’ll be on the lookout for friendships to facilitate, and to ensure no one looks lonesome.”

There are lots of places to make friends, including “gender-free” toilets, but don’t worry – safety is a “huge and valid” concern. All events are smoke, alcohol and drug free, and “youth workers” will be on hand “to make sure everyone has a safe and supported experience”. There are trained first-aiders on-site and all volunteers and staff are required to comply with “child safety laws and checks”. Besides, Minus 18 are supported by the Victorian Government “who recommend us as safe and essential”.

Parents not welcome

To mitigate any concerns about having 12 year olds mix in gender-free toilets with 19 year olds (and/or adult friendship facilitators), parents are allowed to keep a watchful eye. Oh no, hang on, they’re not. Minus 18 say they “can’t welcome in parents and carers to our events, as this does not comply with our child safety practices”. Any parent who at least wants to have a look at the event set-up before leaving their child can’t, as “even this does not comply with our child safety practices”.

I am absolutely certain Minus 18 events are mostly safe whilst also creating a perfect environment for a predatory young adult paedophile (volunteer or punter) to meet a child in the gender-free toilets and coerce them into god knows what. That said, it doesn’t appear to have happened in fifteen years of Minus 18 running events. Or if it has, it’s not been reported.

Still, it’s a better idea than the Minus 18 discord server, also for young adults and children….

I have asked Minus 18 for a response and to let me know if it has had any minor or serious safeguarding incidents at its events and/or if anything has happened which was serious enough to report to the police. I will post anything I get back here.

Minus 18, but nineteen-year-olds are welcome? The age ranges at these LGBTQIAP+ events are always a huge red flag.

The ridiculous 1.7% figure for intersex conditions comes from Anne Fausto-Sterling (author of “The Five Sexes”) and has been thoroughly debunked: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/12476264/

Excuse me?! “Any parent who at least wants to have a look at the event set-up before leaving their child can’t, as “even this does not comply with our child safety practices”…?????

Warning Warning. The fact is there are parents who don’t know what this means…the possible ‘trans’ing of their child.
I haven’t heard or seen anything about this group in New Zealand yet.

  3. Anyone after the LGB in the alphabet community is more than likely heterosexual anyway, riding on the coattails of what was once a successful (and necessary) gay rights movement and destroying it, turning into whatever the hell it is supposed to be now and ultimately undoing a lot of the progress as a result.

There’s enough gender ideology indoctrination of impressionable young people on the internet without having gender ideology indoctrination groups with a questionable age range and no adults permitted.

The only reason that so many kids “identify” as a member of the alphabet community is because they want to be different. Most of them will grow out of it.

as an aside, about 3 years ago Bonds changed all their underwear from female and male to ‘gender neutral’, complete with male mannequins in shopfronts and ads wearing girls knickers and bras. I think some females also had Yfronts. obviously this was such a monumental failure (wonder why?!) that they now have only 17 ‘gender neutral’ items.
our Government needs to cease throwing money at Minus 18, ACON, Equality Australia – of which our Governer General is a Patron, Transcend Australia and so on and so on

  5. None of this is surprising given Minus 18 was started by a convicted pedophile. Many of the articles about this have been removed but this one is still live. https://www.australianpeacemakers.com/learning-library/pedophile-colin-billing-created-minus18-youth

Up until they faced more scrutiny, their website featured articles about how to hide porn use from parents on different browsers (I have screenshots), how to turn common household objects such as electronic toothbrushes and electric razors into sex toys (again I have screenshots). In the early days it had links to orgs such as Scarleteen which had information on where to buy small condoms and things like packers to put in your underwear to make it look like you had a penis. It also had links to Victorian sex clubs.

The age range for Minus 18 events unbelievably is not the worst in Australia. Government funded Headspace have 12-25 year olds at their events, as do Pride Youth who hold queer formals etc where parents are not permitted.

OMG! Parallels with LGBTQ Youth Scotland and so many more of these orgs. Pride in Surrey being a notable UK example.

This is so welcome in Australia thanks. Many of us have been writing to the national broadcaster and all legacy media, for years, trying to get proper coverage of government corruption by TQ lobby groups well funded with taxpayer dollars. While some good journalists at The Australian are doing their best, I am guessing their editors are less courageous, still insisting on trans identifying men being described with “she” pronouns. The Australian Guardian has been pathetic on impartial reporting re women’s rights and the transing of children. However as of last week I see their Australian editor Lenore Taylor resigned and so it’s being interim edited from London for now. (Maybe now is the time to get an Op Ed in?). The absence of any left media coverage in Australia has really (wrongly!) cemented this in public thinking as a “right-wing” and “conservative” concern. Most on the “orthodox” left still think it’s deeply uncool to care about women’s rights, and that gender ideology embedded in government is just a mad conspiracy theory … which of course, it is. Except that (as with all the really interesting conspiracy theories) it is actually true!

Power to you and thanks for having eyes on us down under.

This is, indeed, all the red flags.

I have a feeling of huge disquiet about this. It looks to me like another cult-type operation of mind control over a vulnerable group.

    This will not end well.

I also have a huge suspicion about this operation boasting its base being in Aboriginal lands.

I am also concerned about this receiving support from the Victoria government.

Many cases of abuse do not come to light until years later. Imagine if you were a 12 year old or possibly even younger. You’re attracted by the rainbows and promise of fun. You’re groomed into sexual activity over a period of months, you are distressed and hurt but all the books you’re reading tell you Love is Love, Love has no Age and whatever else. Eventually you feel you should tell someone but the police station, your school, the hospital and all the people who should prioritise your safety are plastered in progress pride flags and LGBTQ propaganda. Who would you dare tell and who would believe you?

Here’s an ABC article about Minus 18 paedo founder: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2010-05-06/details-of-sex-abuse-victims-dumped-near-shops/424872

And Minus 18 was of course heavily involved in infecting Australian primary schools with revoltingly sexual content- to the extent the then PM Malcolm Turnbull had to fight to dial down the filth factor. https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2016/mar/18/turnbull-government-unveils-dramatic-changes-to-safe-schools-program
